Ofsted has recognised “vast improvements” in children’s services locally following the publication of a full inspection report into Herefordshire Council’s provision.
Responding to the findings, Jon Roberts, Chief Operating Officer at Vennture, said:
“Many congratulations to the whole team at Herefordshire Children’s Services on the positive findings of the Ofsted report. We have seen first-hand the change in culture and outcomes, and most importantly, what this means for children, young people and families. I recognise the difficulty in facing these challenges and making real change. The stability and confidence the new Corporate Director has brought are evident throughout the service. Vennture is pleased to be actively partnering with the service to support children, young people and families.”
The inspection judged individual service areas as Good, with the impact of leaders on social work practice with children and families rated Outstanding. Inspectors highlighted visible and effective leadership, improved workforce stability, and services shaped by the views and experiences of children and families.
For Vennture, the report reflects what we have seen through our work alongside local partners across Herefordshire. Sustainable improvement in children’s services is built over time, through consistent leadership, trusted partnerships and a workforce that feels supported to focus on what matters most.
The report also makes clear that improvement is an ongoing journey, identifying areas where further oversight and development are required. We know that acknowledging these challenges openly and learning from them is an important part of building support provisions that continue to evolve.
As Jon underlines, inspection outcomes matter not only for the judgement itself, but also for what they represent: meaningful change, stronger outcomes, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of children, young people and families. Vennture remains proud to work alongside partners to help sustain that progress.
