Street Teams

A supportive presence on the streets

The streets can be a place of connection but they can also be a place of risk, especially for people in distress or crisis. Whether it’s late at night outside clubs and pubs, or in town during the day when someone is struggling with their mental health, or feeling isolated, having someone calm, kind and capable nearby can make all the difference. That’s where our Street Presence teams come in.

During both day and night, our trained volunteers and staff are a visible, trusted presence in Hereford, Leominster and Ross. You’ll see us walking in our red and blue coats, talking with people, offering practical help, or simply being there when someone needs steady support.

How we help

Our Street Presence teams, in uniform, walk the streets of Hereford, Leominster, and Ross, offering care, calm, and practical support during the busiest and most unpredictable hours of the night. We’re trained to notice who might need help and to respond with dignity, compassion, and respect.

We’re not enforcement, and we’re not emergency services. We’re people from the community supporting others in the community. We don’t judge or move people on. We stay, we listen, and we make sure no one is left alone when they’re vulnerable. That includes helping people come home safe, responding to incidents, offering first aid, or simply being a kind, steady presence when things feel chaotic.

What we offer

  • Trained teams out on the street,
day and night in key town centres
  • Safe, calm, non-judgemental support
    for anyone in distress
  • Help getting home or finding safety when
    someone is at risk
  • First aid when needed
  • A visible, trusted presence working
    alongside local services

What makes our support different?

We’re there before things go wrong and we stay until they’re made right. We don’t turn away from people in crisis, and we don’t back off when things get messy. Our presence helps reduce pressure on emergency services, de-escalate difficult situations, and prevent people from making decisions they might regret. Over time, we’ve become a trusted part of our local communities, known not just for our red and blue coats, but for our kindness.

“I was panicking and had no idea how to get home. Then one of the team just walked with me, talked to me, and waited until I was safe. I’ll never forget that.”
